TRYPTYCH CONCERT and STAGED OPERA

About TrypTych Opera

TrypTych's opera division goal is to produce professional quality in-concert and staged productions of contemporary opera and music theatre as well as encouraging the development of new Canadian works.

Since 1999, TrypTych has been very active in producing a wide variety of opera presenting works by Verdi, Beethoven and Hugo Wolf. Over the past few years, we have been focusing more and more on the works of contemporary composers including Grigori Frid, Leonard Bernstein, Gian Carlo Menotti, Poulenc, Mihalovici, Weisgall and others.

Over the past season, TrypTych has produced Quenten Doolittle's Boiler Room Suite, a workshop of an abridged version of Mark Richards' Hamlet and the world premiere of Andrew Ager's Frankenstein.

TrypTych future plans include a late winter production (2011) of Menotti's Martin's Lie in celebration of Gian Carlo Menotti's cenetenary. Other projects on the horizon include Paul McIntyre's Macbeth (late 2011), a world premiere of Richards' Hamlet, a Canadian Premiere of Lieberman's The Portrait of Dorian Gray.
